Update Instructions for ODRPACK 2.01 -- Software for Weighted Orthogonal Distance Regression ******************************************************************************* * * * If you have not already installed ODRPACK Version 2.00, then you MUST * * follow the installation instructions in file README, which describes * * the necessary steps for installing the current version, 2.01. If you * * have already installed Version 2.00 and would prefer to only update * * those subprograms that have changed between Version 2.00 and Version * * 2.01, then please follow the instructions below. File CHANGES * * identifies how ODRPACK 2.01 differs from earlier releases. * * * ******************************************************************************* Direct questions to Janet E. The modifications introduced by Version 2.01 result in an increase in the minimum work vector length, and thus required that the test programs and sample drivers be altered; the data files for the sample drivers remain the same as for Version 2.00. The modifications also produce minor changes in the output from the test routines and drivers. The ODRPACK 2.00 User's Reference Guide (NISTIR 89-4103, Revised) can still be used with ODRPACK Version 2.01, although the user will need to make note the differences described in file CHANGES. The updated subprograms for ODRPACK 2.01 are in file D_UPDATE.F for the double precision version of ODRPACK, and in file S_UPDATE.F for the single precision version. A Fortran program that can be used to split this source code file into files each consisting of one subprogram each is given in file README. On most UNIX systems, simply invoking the command make -f makefile.update will update an existing ODRPACK 2.00 library with the modified subprograms, and will re-execute all of the test problems. On others systems, the installer will need to proceed with the update "by hand," replacing the ODRPACK 2.00 subprograms with the updated subprograms in files D_UPDATE.F and S_UPDATE.F. Note that, as supplied with the release, makefile MAKEFILE.UPDATE assumes that both the single and double precision versions of the code exist in a single library; the changes necessary to update only one version are documented within MAKEFILE.UPDATE.
