Porting-Activities

Driven by the fact, that the situation in application-software especially for MPPs is not really satisfactory, whereas powerful hardware is available, several initiatives have been set up by government institutions. As example we state a few words about the architecture of the EUROPORT project, funded by the commission of the European Union (EP 8421):

• Primary objective is to build confidence and generate awareness in the effectiveness of parallel HPC-platform and to show their industrial impact.
• Concentration on computational fluid dynamics (CFD, 3 codes) and computational material dynamics (CMD, 4 codes).
• Resulting codes should be stable, scalable, portable, efficient and functionally equivalent to the serial code.
• Testcases supplied by industry.
• Base for finetuning by system-vendors.
