memory leak in ATLAS

A memory leak has been discovered in ATLAS, see
   http://www.netlib.org/atlas/errata.html#MemLeak
for the fix.

While this has been the only error severe enough to require a mail to this
list, there have also been a lot of install-related fixes, as well as some
system-specific speedups/tunings, so you may want to examine all of the
header lines at the top of the file, to see if any apply to you.
